From the South (York & A64 westbound)

From York, take the A64 eastbound towards Scarborough.

From the North (Scarborough & A64 eastbound)

From Scarborough or Malton, take the A64 westbound towards York.

Pass through Malton (5 miles from the site). Continue west on the A64.

Look for the Welburn / Castle Howard turn-off on the right, onto the B1257.

Towing a caravan or driving a large motorhome? The access track is wide and well-maintained. Most sizes of outfit are welcome. If you have a particularly large vehicle, drop us an email first and we'll confirm suitability.

Important — narrow archway on the main approach (The Stray): There is a narrow archway on the main approach road towards Castle Howard, known as The Stray. It is 2.6m wide and 3.43m high. If your vehicle, caravan or motorhome exceeds these dimensions, do not use this route. Instead, follow the well-signed alternative route via Malton and Coneysthorpe.

Public Transport

Once you're pitched up, you don't need the car for a day out. The Yorkshire Coastliner bus stop is a short stroll from the site.
